Wow, who blows a 6-try lead in wheelchair rugby? A huge comeback win for USA against GB.

Damn, boccia is pretty cool too. The sport closest to it is curling, and I'm a massive, massive fan of that sport. I'd love to try boccia some time.
As you can clearly tell, I've been having a LOT of time to kill, and just binge-watching the Paralympics. So far so good.

Meanwhile, in one of the least-vaccinated states in America...
"Now is the time to prepare," you say.
But the hospitals are overloaded with Covid patients now partially thanks to you. They can't evacuate, needless to say, and there are tons of them. They can't fucking "prepare," you ghoul.
On top of that there will be very little or no room for anything other than Covid, including the possible injuries etc. caused by the hurricane.
If the hurricane will become as strong and nasty as predicted, it will be disastrous. And you will be responsible.

There are a shit load of US cops who are threatening to quit if the vaccination was mandated.
Excellent news. That's the best thing that has happened to the US police system in decades. Real chance to clean up the whole thing. Just let them go, encourage them to quit, and about half of the problems will be solved.

Brilliant wheelchair rugby, aka muderball, final between the UK and USA. Congrats to the UK. They played the semifinal and final like there was no tomorrow. Well deserved.

You should really pay attention to this para sport because it blows most "standard" sports out there out of the water as a spectator sport.

I'm glad I converted you into a wheelchair rugby sort-of-fan. Now, you should dive into the world of boccia as well. It's very good.
And on a completely unrelated note, Texas strikes again, to trumpet to the whole world how absolutely stupid the US political/judicial/government system is.
Seriously, what decent modern nation state would ever have such ridiculous institutions as the US Senate and Supreme Court? I have no idea how on earth so many Americans actually believe their system is in any way still "advanced" or "the envy of the world." It isn't. It's fucking medieval.

You see the British conservatives' hysterical reaction to the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and still tell me that their mind doesn't live in a grand delusion? You still tell me that after Brexit and that mass hysteria?
They are like a senile 80-year-old man flirting with a 21-year-old girl, trying to get laid.

In the last month alone, 4,200 people (!!) died of Covid in Texas. In a country that has been basically hoarding the vaccines, where you can just walk into a place to ask for a shot for free without booking anything.
I can't even tell you the magnitude of the sheer idiocy and also evil there. I know people have become numb after all the fucking horror show, but Tucker Carlson on Fox News is telling millions of his miserable audience that they should get (i.e. purchase, from scammers) a fake vaccine passport if it's to be mandated at many places in order to "fight against the tyranny," as we speak.
And sadly, some of the people that I love, to whom I owe a lot, are nodding approvingly to that crap. They think they are victims. Of what, you ask. Of whatever. It doesn't matter. It's a gigantic clusterfuck of self-love and self-pity, an obscene festival of masturbation.
They just don't know better. Unfortunately they don't.
What a fucking miserable shithole. The stupidest, evilest place on earth.

The vaccine surplus in the US and EU in particular is absolutely obscene. Total hoarders. Massive, massive volumes of vaccines just sitting in the storage.

One thing that this pandemic has proven, as if it needed to be proven, is that most people in the media absolutely suck at reading and understanding stats, let alone stuff like the concept of Bayesian probability.
If that's any indication of how they read and understand polls in general, well, no wonder.

The Olympics gone, Paralympics gone. I feel so empty now. Whatever will I do now? I've spent weeks watching those sports, and occasionally some anime shows that I missed during all the hectic shit. I've just finished watching anime show Carole & Tuesday, which was massive fun, and don't know how to live now.
Obviously I'm frustrated with a hell of a lot of things going on in the world, and hence the resurgence of ranting here. This sense of emptiness, greatly deepened by the end of the Paralympics, is overwhelming.
I guess this song from Carole & Tuesday really sums up my feeling now.

Gregg Abbott, of Texas, really is the worst governor ever, in any state, in history.
Drop this miserable state, America. You won't miss a thing about this shithole.

I chose Moderna because I was told by someone that its efficacy would "probably" last longer than any other vaccine available. I didn't think much of it one way or another, partially because I was infected once already (infection + vaccination is a killer combo), but followed that little piece of advice, while not fully believing him. And there have been a number of studies lately that suggest that may indeed be the case. I asked that someone a week ago how he came to that conclusion, and his answer was "I just GUESSED so," from Moderna's tendency to cause more fever and aches than Pfizer and others. According to these charts, Moderna is significantly more powerful than Pfizer/BioNTech, although not quite for my group (previously infected).
