People seem to underestimate how much being stupidly wrong about Covid broke Elon Musk's mind. He clearly knows he utterly embarrassed himself, so has been massively projecting since then. People - especially narcissists - usually don't come back to the Earth from that kind of intellectual embarrassment that they are deeply aware of themselves. Only time can heal the wound, and it's been only two years.
It's not easy to come back from "Liberate Michigan!" crap. *I* feel embarrassed recalling that.

If the only powerful "friend" that you have is Russia, you are pretty much screwed. I always try to defend Russia from the lazy Western prejudices as best I can. But one thing that has been clear throughout history is that Russia is a horrible, horrible friend. *Russians* tend to be great friends, but *Russia* is a terrible one, a backstabbing artist. It's not just the issue of Kossovo. This war has put Serbia in a very tough spot, and needless to say, none of the siloviki give a toss about that. Couldn't care less. I don't know for how long the Serbia government will be able to keep up that balancing act. By far the most interesting, ridiculously intelligent football coach that I've ever seen. He coached the last Yugoslav national team in the World Cup when the country was about to fall apart. His view on football and life was pretty much singular.
I missed a chance to interview him by stupid accident when he was coaching in Japan, and I still regret it.
