How did the Kubo vs Kido fight go? Kubo won by extra round decision, was definitely close. Kido seemed heartbroken when the final decision was announced. Just got done watching the post fight press conference. Kubo came out wearing dark glasses, he took them off briefly to show his right eye and it was pretty nasty looking.

Probably in the minority here, but I liked Kubo vs. Kido. I appreciated the slower paced chess match of the first two rounds and the more urgently fought two rounds that followed.
While the clash of styles probably didn't bring out the best in each other, I still appreciated the end result. As a Kido fanboy I was really rooting for him to take it though. I know Kido is a joker and doesn't really appear to take things seriously, but I think goofing off is just a coping mechanism for him to deal with stress. Not saying he doesn't enjoy being a comedian, but still.
Also, welcome aboard shkibb!

Post-fight presser vids:
Look at Takeru's forearms. Yodkitsada's kicks are no joke.

Good lord. I thought he was giving Yodkitsada too much respect in there, but I take it back. They look like hotdogs.

I have been absent from this forum for quite some time and could not sign in under my old screen name so I had to create a new one. I had actually not been following K-1 and Japanese kickboxing very closely for several years and just recently got back into following it several months ago. Then I discovered Abema TV and I am hooked now. I didn't know what I was missing. I've been watching mostly MMA for years now, even though kickboxing has always been my favorite form of kakutougi. MMA has just kind of gotten boring to me lately and events like this KFesta 2 are just what I am looking for. Awesome stuff !

Let us know if there's anything we can help with in terms of you catching back up Big things happening again! In the post-fight pressers for this, Takeru has again been pressing the idea of a showdown vs. Tenshin in the Tokyo Dome and a few days ago, Abema actually sponsored an article saying that'll kick off the second kakutougi boom. Lets see if it pans out, but the people with money actually seem to want this now so my hopes are up!

I'm on some pretty fantastic painkillers and don't speak Japanese, but they said that the guy who gave Takeru the bouquet was some kind of boss at Abema right? So the broadcast guys were literally in the ring when he again pushed for "that fight"

I think that you were a member of our old forum, which would explain why your login credentials didn't work here. Either way good to see you've found your way back here and are enjoying kickfighting again.

Oh good, maybe he can loaf around some press conferences for no reason Hugh Hefner style and kick a referee in the face again.
K-1 is definitely ready for terrestrial TV again, but is terrestrial TV ready for K-1? Seems to me that K-1 keeps doing enviable numbers and great shows, but if they make that leap and they're met with the same apathy as Rizin (admittedly a much worse product) then what? This stuff can be fickle. Remember when they dissolved Hero's to start Dream and the viewership collapsed?
Also, fun side note. I found out a couple of years ago that Ishii and Andy Hug contributed to fight choreography in Street Fighter 2: the animated movie. As you might expect the fight sequences are pretty good. And Bryan Cranston voices Fei Long.
