While I'm not sure Glory chose the date to compete with K-1's big end-of-year event, due to time zone differences the broadcasts don't interfere with each other and we fans get an awesome day of events.

Haha, shit. I made plans for that day on the assumption that K-1 would be finished early afternoon. Time to cancel. I'm down for this. Like Dave said, there's tons of awesome fights at HW to be made sans Rico, as long as they're not doing that 2 minute round shit this should be great.

I'm gonna dash some hopes here, but the rest of the field is gonna be kind of a bummer.
From what I've heard Junior Tafa will probably be there again and a few Dutch guys will be in for local appeal.

I'm torn on whether or not I want Rico in there: probably not gonna happen.
Wonder if they can get Badr to fight a tournament as I don't see him winning three fights in one night anymore unless it's can crushing.
I do want a couple of fresh names in there, but only if they have potential.

If the tournament winner gets a straight title shot I will be fine with it.
In single fights Rico is next to impossible to beat by the current top heavyweights, so I would have been interested to see how Rico fairs in tournament dynamic anno 2018.
From Dave's comment I don't think this will be a top dog tournament though, but more of a mixed bag kind of thing.
Which is fine don't get me wrong, but it's probably not going to be what it could be.

Yeah, don't expect Rico. Definitely don't expect Badr.

It was confirmed that seeds number 1 and 2 are Adegbuyi and Ben Saddik. Shame on Glory! They can fix this only if both the winner of the tournament and Adegbuyi will get the title shot. Adegbuyi should take his earned title shot and Rico must fight Badr again. Then Adegbuyi. Don't forget Ghita will also show up.
I have the feeling that the matchmakers, which are Dutch, are trying to do everything for Wilnis/Ben Saddik protegees. Don't forget also that Ben Saddik fought an unfit Londt.

The rest of the card looks solid btw, though I am a bit irritated that Mannaart as K-1 champion is getting more fights at another promotion.

Anyway saddik did beat guto pretty clearly, won the first two rounds with rico and smoked marshall that beat londt, anderson silva and went to an extra round with guto. Also jamal is 1-1 against rico. I have no problem if he gets the title shot if he wins the tournament. Anyway I don't think that he will win the tournament as his gas tank it's not good enough to win 3 fights in a night. Same goes for tafa. I think an healthy jamal it's better than all of those guys in the tournament if he fought them in a superfight, but not in a tournament format where he will have to fight 3 times in a night and will gas badly.

Completely missed the fact that I initially called this Glory 63 in the title lol
Anyway, just wanted to mention that this event is less than 4 weeks out and I'm expecting the full tournament matchups to be announced within the next few days.

So yeah, the two final slots go to Mohamed Abdallah and Arkadiusz Wrzosek.
You may remember Abdallah from his not so hot performance against D'Angelo Marshall not too long ago, but he does have tournament experience and won the A1 Tournament last year where he beat Glory's other new kid Donegi Abena:
As for Arkadiusz Wrzosek, here's his very recent fight against Vladimir Tok:
While I do like the idea of fresh faces getting a chance, Abdallah nor Wrzosek exactly seem like hot up and comers.
Both fighters seem serviceable, but unless one of them is matched up with Guto - who I just don't think is very good - I don't give either guy a serious chance to make it far. I may turn out to be wrong and I don't want to come off as mean, but they do seem like somewhat lackluster additions to the field.
When it's another promotion that just doesn't have the talent nor budget to make a bigger tournament happen I am a lot more forgivable, but even without Rico and Badr this tournament could be a lot more attractive.
It's not that I dislike the tournament, not at all, but when it was first announced I was really excited. Now I just think it's pretty cool.
Now all that's left is announce the matchups I guess.

He beat Abena by corruption. Melvin also did it for Aygun. Mahieddine won over Stoica controversially, then Aygun won even more controversially. These two are nothing than untalented fighters, because also the Polish beat just old cans.
