Le Banner vs Viacheslav Datsik from Sunday on Tatneft Cup, 1mil views on yt.
Select bits from Datsik's wiki:
Datsik reportedly had obsessive antisemitic and anti-Christian views, while exalting Slavic paganism. The official expert analysis on his mental sanity asserted that he claimed Jesus Christ was a Mossad agent, whereas Datsik believing himself to be “Red Tarzan,” the son of Slavic god Perun. In the analysis he was concluded to suffer from schizophrenia and avoided criminal charges. He was first locked in a high-security mental institution for therapy but he was transferred to a low-security psychiatric clinic in July 2010.
In August 2010 he escaped, by tearing a hole in the wire fence around the low security clinic, apparently using his bare hands. He then illegally crossed the border to Norway in a boat and met with Norwegian reporters. While wearing Nazi symbols, he told the reporters that he was "not a nationalist, but a racist".
Since retiring from competition, Datsik has also become notable both for his criminal behavior, and vigilante raids on brothels.

JLB fighting Datsik in 2019 and it even being somewhat entertaining? For you youngsters who may not know, Datsik is somewhat of an 'urban legend' in the fighting community for all the wrong reasons. His claim to fame aside from being insane is holding a KO victory over Andrei Arlovski. Also, some of his quotes became memes before memes were a thing: "I want to fight and die in the ring" This is a pretty good summarization on top of what Shadess already mentioned: On to JLB vs. Datsik: I thought JLB was pretty much retired, but his wiki shows he's actually had 5 fights over the past year and won all of them by TKO lol He still looks good physically and while he's obviously just a shadow of what he once was, at 46 JLB is still a competent kickboxer. Despite having a lot of skill, JLB has always been a technical brawler that's very hittable. When Datsik's weird looping punches tagged JLB I thought it was a KO waiting to happen, but luckily he recovered quickly from the knockdown and scored an awesome liverkick KO. As for Datsik, he didn't look half bad considering his size, inactivity and, well, insanity. He posed a serious threat for this older version of JLB. I didn't mind seeing this fight at all. With JLB still being active, I wonder if the rematch with Cyril Abidi is ever going to happen. Also, was that Andrei Griddin who came to congratulate JLB at the very end?

It is sad seeing Jerome having troubles with someone like datsik... if this was prime jerome this fight would have ended in 30 seconds.

Had JLB lost I'd have been a bit sad.
He won by vicious body kick KO though, after having been knocked down himself that same round.
WARRR K-1 VETS!

Oh fuck. Well, can't say it was unexpected as this was the general consensus by the boxing community going into this fight.
On the plus side, maybe this will result in Kyotaro coming back to kickboxing - preferably as a cruiser/lhw.
BTW the youtube comment section on that fight reminds me why I hate the internet. Putting away Kyo as some random can who showed up to get killed.
My favorite kind of 'fightfans' - the uneducated, yet strongly opinionated.

I have such mixed feelings about it. It's really cool that a kickboxing fight is this big a draw in 2019. At the same time, the majority of interest being fuelled by projections of this fight essentially being a 'race war' makes me a bit sad. People didn't tune in to see a quality fight, because there are better fights than Rico vs Badr almost every week.

Kyotaro should be at cruiserweight. I'd honestly give him a chance to pick up an alphabet title vs the random Polish and South African guys who hover around the top 10-15.
