Seems like the next Kunlun 70kg tournament will be a bit shorter. 32-man?

Seems like the next Kunlun 70kg tournament will be a bit shorter. 32-man? I just hope this means keeping high the big names bar. I have seen a lot of complaint this year in the chinese forums about how 2015-2016 era was the best for Kunlun, and now they seem to be losing focus. (and funds) ONE FC 2019 tournament should be 70KG. Having Petrosyan, Yodsanklai, Jo Nattawut and Andy Souwer fighting each other at that weight-class, makes a good claim for the best 70KG tournament of 2019 in terms of name recognition. Kunlun still can make a better high level competition-like tournament; but of a first tournament, ONE is making something that I'm really intrigued of. I didn't pay attention to their chinese gyms tournament. It seemed like a good idea, but there is so many Kickboxing happening everywhere that is hard to follow everything.

They did say something like wanting to keep the level consistently higher. Think in general they said ~more high-level fights, but idk exactly when it's through google translate and how much is just PR anyway. "BIG THINGS COMING" -Superkombat 2015-2016 was peak Kunlun yea...so far! In 2017 think they definitely tried to increase revenue without increasing their spending but not so sure if it was so "voluntary" for them in 2018 anymore. Kunlun Combat League thing could be quite good for them as I would think the real estate partner and local government probably put a good chunk of money into it instead of Kunlun so much. Tough for people to shit on them for not trying to develop Chinese talent anymore either when they did 71 events/426 fights in about 3 months with mostly Chinese fighters. Kunlun's tournament is still easily better than ONE's but would hard to deny Petro and Yod in a tournament isn't nice. ONE just does a better job presenting things. Kunlun has had Yod, Souwer, Askerov too but outside China not that many even knew. Curious to see this year for Kunlun, they've hinted of a large round of investment coming soon too...will see. ONE just has stupid money to spend for now. Their business is trash though and they will have to seriously build that up. Will be a very, very interesting year for them as well. Will they continue to sign away big names? Verhoeven even? That'd be a biiiiiiig loss to Glory. Curious about the esports thing too. ONE and Glory financials for 2018 should be interesting reading again.

The 66KG Kunlun finals from like three weeks ago are up now for free: www.iqiyi.com/v_19rqp72x94.htmlGotta love Gu Hui's hearth. Yesterday there was an WLF event with one 65KG tournament. Fu Gaofeng fought there also after his defeat against Stetsurenko The winner of the tournament was Wang PengFei. I will try to find the video of the event. Maybe next sunday will be up.

Reactions to the Tenshin fight have truly been exceptionally weird.

What are these pornos that Schaub is watching where people pretend to get hit in the face better than Tenshin? Rory echoed the sentiment, which is forcing me to come to realization I no longer really like him at this point. What a fall since UFC189 Also, my hope that the number of Kunlun fighters in its tournaments keeps growing exponentially and hits 128 this year have been shattered.

I've always hated the weird hibernation J-kick goes into for the first three months of the year, but now in addition to Glory 63 we also get a bonus of silly season reporting, as every combat sports journalist on earth decides to repost McGregor jokingly calling out Tenshin and miss the point

This is sightly worse than the days of speculating when Ghita would return or whether Badr will be on the next Glory card

Hahaha. Tenshin rules, still manages to be respectful and reciprocate on the joke.
Sakakibara's only promotional strategy has been to badly copy what other, successful promoters have already done and then go bankrupt. When Masato was popular, he tried to push Gomi, a barely comprehensible drunk, as his analogue. When Korean dramas were popular and FEG had Akiyama, his attempt to capture the zeitgeist was motherfucking Choi Mu Bae. It's such a shame his dumb ass is involved with Tenshin's career. I really hope Tenshin can somehow play his cards right and recover from this stupid disaster in the next few years.

Kunlun 70 kg finals maybe Feb 24. Worst Chinese year-end season in memory! Couple theories about Kunlun around, guess we'll see soon enough. In other Kunlun news they'll be going to Shanghai this year and probably there'll be Chinese pro wrestling streaming on their app soon, and maybe they'll do something else with them too other than just stream their events idk. Felt like I was reading Dave's personal twitter with Japanese wrestling nonsense when I saw it OWE, CIMA, Dragon Gate? Now I know what those things are Wu Lin Feng has an okay show on the 12th, but not really among their best either. EM doing something and Faith Fight had theirs. GoH I think is doing nothing this year and Kunlun is weird and late too.
