I have watched some glory photos and videos with badr and he looks physically pretty much the same as he did for Gerges. He looked very good a few months ago, I don' know what happened that he reverted back to the gerges shape. I'm not giving him much of a chance now, especially that rico looked the best he has ever looked physically. I think we'll get the best impression of their pre-fight shapes at the weigh in. Right now I still have it pretty much 50-50; Rico puts in more work, has better fight rhythm and is younger. Badr is the more talented fighter with KO danger. While I'm not a fan of either guy, I do expect an entertaining fight. Just hope there are no injuries this time.

Fully clothed Badr does seem a little like the skinny Badr, but in the photo shoot he seemed okay. Maybe not the most jacked he's ever been but not exactly out of shape either 114,332 views 8,829 views 242,633 views 136,947 views Pretty decent views, mostly. Badr/Rico clearly more the draws though

I will watch this, but I wish Glory had put all the good fights on the main card instead of sprinkling Wilnis vs Plazibat and Pereira in SFS/G74

As of this post Pereira has failed two weigh ins and needs to lose 50 grams in next hour or two

Badr was uncharacteristically friendly.

Aside from Rico vs. Badr I've only seen bits and pieces of the event.
What I saw was genuinely entertaining, but the card could have used some more decisive victories since every other fight ended with a close/split/majority decision.
I liked Badr vs Rico until the - once again - anti-climactic finish.
The fight was entertaining and it was surprising to see such a slow and out of shape looking Badr still being able to give Rico a run for his money.
The knockdowns kind of came out of nowhere, but to Rico's credit he recovered quickly and I agreed with Rico taking the second round. Hell, I was watching in a bar filled with Badr fans and even there the general consensus after round 2 was that Badr was gonna get knocked out due to fatigue. He was more or less in a race against the clock since this was a five rounder.
Having said that, up until 'the accident' Rico was in trouble and behind on points by a landslide.
As for Badr getting injured, it looked very weird and not like a hard twist or anything at all. My theory is, since Badr looked a bit soft and very slow/out-of-shape during the fight, he may have been nursing a mild injury that got a lot worse during the fight. Dutch headlines are saying something about Badr undergoing 'emergency surgery' as we speak.
At 35 Badr can't really afford to be as inactive as he is and have high hopes of consistent results against even this weaker HW era's top dogs. He may have been on his way to beating the champ, but that doesn't really mean anything if his body keeps breaking down mid fight.
It was unfortunate that the fight once again ended in an anti-climax and one would have hoped for a more satisfying end, but I can't help but feel that karma was in some way involved.
The silver lining here is that the sportsmanship between both camps before, during and especially after the fight was good to see and made me regain some respect for Rico and even Badr. It was a good thing in more than one way, because if there would have been any hostility in the ring, that would have transferred to shit happening outside of the ring in the audience/on the streets.
I wonder what's next for both Rico and Badr.
Funny side note; Of course the first thing I caught on facebook after the fight was Ghita bitching about Rico again. Man has my respect for Ghita hit a low. Hoping he gets knocked out by his next over-the-hill opponent - if he even fights again, that is.

Yes you are right, it seems hari had some kind of problem with that leg before this fight ( around 7:03 in the video you can see his leg)
Anyway it was pretty stupid of badr to go for the spinning back kick as rico was still hurt on ropes and was very open to punches. Could have dropped him again/finish him if he just used his punches.
Also remember the last 6 weeks or so in which he did not post any photo of him traning although until then he was posting at least once every two days. So I think you are really spot on with your theory.

I agree, I think this might be it for hari... these kind of injuries are pretty bad and fuck you up. He is old and his body is of glass. I think he had a similar injury at one of his ankles in the samedov fight too( I don't know if it's the same ankle) which rendered him unable to continue in the tournament after he beat samedov. More so, Mike talked about this in a interview 4 years ago how badr legs are fucked up and that's why he changed his style. What I took from this fight is this: 1.Hari showed huge fight IQ and composure, stalking for moments of vulnerability. He dropped rico twice and rocked him another two times. 2.Hari should retire because his body is not there anymore and this style although works against rico, against someone like jamal won't work. 3.Rico is very vulnerable to getting stalked and countered. The way hari let rico in that first half of the second round throw all kind of shit at him just to find another moment to devastatingly counter rico was very concerning for rico. He rocked him again but Rico showed good recovery there. Anyway rico looked bound to to get Ko'd sooner or later. Rico hope was for hari to gas, but badr fought very patient, measured and composed so I don't think he would have gassed before putting rico out, but who knows. 4.I think badr showed the blueprint to beat rico. But now that badr is out and can't keep his body together..... So who is there to execute this blueprint? I think Spong would fit the bill very well, but he is out boxing too.

Age has a big role in Hari's injuries but i would wager something else has a bigger role. He fought 3 times in 4 years, of course your body will break down if you don't have constant training and constant fights. This shit might work at 25, but at 35 you are on your way out, your body can give you just a few more years of top level performance but you have to give it extra care so you don't get your self in shit like this

LOL I think Hesdy yelled "Badr won" and Rico responded with something like "bottom of the barrel guys who want to eat with the big boys get back in line". Then a bit later Dennis Krauweel responded with essentially "I think we have a next fight".
