Hey guys does anyone know if Zhao Chongyang started in kickboxing, sanda, or something else? He was already a pro kickboxer by age 18 but Im wondering if he was developed thru some kind of state run Sanda high school program or something because the dude is way too good for someone his age.

Maybe, but Zhao Chongyang was not mentioned anywhere as an athlete with results in sanda. Anyway, he was stripped of his Enfusion title. #1 ranked Rida Bellahcen will probably win the belt in November. Bellahcen will also fight in Romania at Colosseum Tournament in July against Iulian Marinescu.

Hey kickboxer you should make a wiki page for some of the accomplished guys you tout like Adrian Maxim. I know he has some good wins but no wiki.

Maxim is not in the top 15 or even top 20 best Romanian kickboxers like Spetcu (some had asked me why I have such an opinion, it was visible when he faced Spetcu later; he also lost to Marian Lapusneanu in Romania and now some good youngsters are coming as well), BUT I definitely do think he deserves a page. 3 wins over Jin Ying and 2 over Wang Pengfei, both ranking in the top 10 in the world. Wikipedia is strange if he went unnoticed. He's a solid featherweight.
I would ask Khonda to create Ciprian Sofian or Stefan Latescu, but they are yet unproven. Another name, maybe (if he proves himself) to consider alongside them could be Calin Petrisor. Raul Catinas and Andrei Ostrovanu should also be on the site, they could win multiple times some certain world titles.

So far Glory/ONE material for me from Romania are: 60 kg: Ciprian Sofian (potentially in the not very far future) 65 kg: Cristian Spetcu 70 kg: Sorin Caliniuc, Stefan Orza, Amansio Paraschiv, Gabriel Bozan (absolutely all 4 are, Orza being even more talented than Caliniuc and Paraschiv), Calin Petrisor (unproven yet enough; Orza already beat Petrisor and Zanosiev; and Petrisor demolished Daniel Corbeanu twice, who produced results in China as well like Maxim - also defeating current stronger Zanosiev) 75 kg: Andrei Ostrovanu (for ONE he's definitely ready, for Glory needs a little bit more boxing skills) 77 kg: Florin Lambagiu, Eduard Gafencu, Mario Boboc (Boboc is unproven yet but is a massive 16 year old talent) 91 kg: Bogdan Stoica 95 kg: Andrei Stoica, Sebastian Cozmanca +95 kg: Benjamin Adegbuyi, Raul Catinas, Catalin Morosanu, Stefan Latescu (he is unproven yet) So there should be 18 names in their eyes, if they would scout Romanian kickboxers like me. Adrian Maxim is under these as talent. Some are not ready because they are very young, but they have big talent so if they prevail they can be soon. On my list are also being scouted now: Iulian Marinescu (60 kg), Marian Lapusneanu, Ionut Popa, Serghei Zanosiev, Vlad Trif, Paul Cornea, Silviu Ionescu (65 kg), Madalin Craciunica, Darius Argyo, Tudor Potoroaca and Marko Dusinschi (70 kg), Alexandru Ostoia, Adelin Mihaila, Mirel Dragan (77 kg, but he's too old maybe to make it), Bogdan Nastase (81 kg) Ionut Busuioc, Alexandru Amaritei and Shakib Hamroun (85 kg, maybe also Vasile Amaritei), and Claudiu Alexe (91 kg). I think I've forgot a few, but not many. So far Ristea (+95 kg) has not made it, Iancu (+95 kg) needs to prove more physical abilities and Mihaila (77 kg) the same as Ristea but he's young and probably better (still has time). Schiopu and Badoi sadly have not made it to the best level. Daniel Pattvean (77-80 kg) looks like retired in England. Many others have retired as well, like Hurduc brothers and more (maybe also Mihai Cirstea), additionally some guys like Robin Dorin haven't taken seriously. More and more young fighters appear every event. Competition is good, 4 top promotions instead of just Superkombat. I hope I didn't forget anyone.

I wonder what Eldar Gross of the Reem/King in the Ring fame is doing nowadays? Think he was doing the Martin Garrix Show, which doesn't seem to be a thing anymore...
Could try and bring him in to do video work for Glory. They do pretty decent on youtube/social media now, could more easily be worthwhile for them to do high quality fight week/docu stuff than before.

That guy should definitely do some more coverage for anything kickboxing, even if it's just a "what's Reem been up to?" episode.

I don't know if I should cheer up or be less happy. One thing is sure, Glory will sell out now or will die after some events...
Ofc if Saki at least and maybe also Spong are signed
Alistair is surely not the same anymore, but it's kickboxing. His best sport.

Ofc if Saki at least and maybe also Spong are signed Alistair is surely not the same anymore, but it's kickboxing. His best sport. I would have been fine with Alistair retiring from competition with his UFC run ending. However, I think it's pretty cool that he's making another run in kickboxing. At age 40 it's a challenge though, even in this weaker HW era. I don't think his UFC fighting style will work in kickboxing, not even with the bigger gloves to cover behind. Alistair needs his UBEREEM body and return to his more aggressive fighting style if he wants to succeed against the bigger names in kickboxing.

The HW era IMO has decreased overall, not at Glory though. If we talk about a Final 16, probably. Anyway, I don't see Overeem beating the Big 4 (Badr including), and notice there are also other hungry wolves.
If no horsemeat ofc...

I would say on paper Glory's HW division has actually improved compared to where they were two years ago.
But yeah overall the division is not looking too great. If all the best talent would be fighting in the same promotion they could easily make a fun Final 16 line up. It wouldn't be as good as the last HW K-1 line-ups, but it would still be good.
Right now the best thing Glory could do is put together a stacked 8-man HW tournament.
No more of that 4-man tournament nonsense, those really killed it for me.
