A bit surprised Rudmann is openly trashing wrestling.

I suspect most people who have an issue with what Alistair said aren't upset because of his dislike for wrestling, but because he used the word 'gay' in derogatory fashion.

While I don't know him personally, I don't think Alistair is homophobic. A lot of people use the word gay in a sense that's completely disconnected from its actual meaning.

On to some of the actually interesting takeaways from the MMA hour - for those who didn't watch.

Alistair:
- is hopping around gyms a lot; he mentioned training in Dallas, Colorado and at Hemmers in NL.
- thinks he will probably fight 3 times in Glory, depending on how it goes.
- doesn't consider himself officially retired from MMA just yet.
- got a bit upset when asked how much he makes in Glory compared to the UFC and called it 'disrespectful towards other promotions and fighters'
- doesn't respect Brock Lesnar's accomplishments in MMA because of his PED use. (LOL @pot/kettle)
- says he doesn't like doing media in the Netherlands, because he feels like he always ends up having to defend the sport against people who link fighting to crime.
- believes Rico might be more popular than Badr in the Netherlands right now. (I seriously doubt it)

Rico:
- thinks Alistair is a 'nice name to have on his list'.
- says he really doesn't have much of a say in who he's fighting; Glory usually suggests his next opponent and he is okay fighting anybody.
- was seriously considering crossing over to MMA until he got a good offer from Glory a few years ago.
- is interested in doing high profile boxing crossover fights.
- has actually worked with and sparred with Alistair years ago when they helped prepare each other for fights.

That just makes me more of a Reem fan lol Calls it like he sees it, and this is coming from another guy who loved WWF/WWE as a kid.

Pretty much the same for me. Loved WWF as a kid, but can't get into it now.

And while I definitely acknowledge these guys destroy their bodies for the sake of entertainment and possess some athletic talent for pulling off their choreographies, I don't consider Pro Wrestling a sport by any stretch of the imagination.

It's not even scripted reality, it's 100% fiction. Nothing wrong with liking it, though.

And I will say this; there's a documentary series called Dark Side of the Ring which I find pretty fascinating.

While not having him in kickboxing won't impact the sport at all, young promising fighters leaving isn't good for the HW division.
