Damn. Does England have to be this incredibly predictable in the way they let it go? It's almost disgusting.
Congrats to Italy, though. They certainly deserved this.

It was definitely maddeningly predictable that this would happen. Missing three penalties in a row is why expressions like 'Epic Fail' ever became became a thing. While part of me feels bad for those young players who crumbled under pressure, at the same time I feel they deserve all the shit that's undoubtedly headed for them.
Either way, congrats to Italy. I have a few Italian friends and they will never let me hear the end of it. Ugh..

Speaking on this tournament as a whole.
It had a horrific start with the Eriksen incident and a bad ending as far as I'm concerned, but inbetween there was some really good stuff.
My personal MVPs are Switzerland and Denmark with the best game being Switzerland vs. France.
Germany sucked, but they'll have a better showing next year at the World Cup. Man that sounds weird.

Who's even aware that there will be Olympics in, like, not even two weeks? Weird indeed.
Not to rub it in, but in hindsight that was about the worst way to lose a final for England. Scoring very early, meaning way fucking too early, practically retreating into an all-defense mode afterwards, failing to keep the lead, and bowing out via shootout. The stats are fairly lopsided in favor of Italy due largely to the way the game went, but the only impression left on people's mind is that Italy was by far the dominant team who deserved to win the game for sure.
It's a pretty miserable way to lose a match in football. An extremely early goal can really be a curse.
