We have interesting fight in the heavyweight division to watch this week and actually there are just 3 days left. The heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua - Olympic gold medalist, 13-0-0 13 K.O.'s in his pro carrier is facing another undefeated heavyweight - Gary Cornish, 21-0-0 12 K.O.'s. Many consider Anthony Joshua as the next heavyweight champ and future ruler of the division, but he is facing his toughest challenge yet in 12 round fight for the vacant Commonwealth title, previously hold by the likes of Tyson Fury, Dereck Chisora and even Lennox Lewis. Both guys are heavy and big. Anthony Joshua - 198 cm, Gary Cornish - 201 cm. I'm pretty excited for this fight ^^

Yeah, really looking forward to this fight. Johnson was supposed to be a test for Joshua (well, for his stamina at least) and he really wasn't. I haven't seen much of Cornish (TBH I didn't know who he was until the fight was announced) but it should be a good fight.

Yep, the idea with Johnson, a guy that previously has never been K.O.ed was to give Joshua some rounds ... but it was a very short work for him. There is not much on the internet about Cornish, but i just found a fight with him in 2013, where he was fighting a bum with 2-10 record and Cornish was floored in the first round.. after i watched this fight now i think that this might be another short work for AJ in 4 rounds or less. The interesting thing here is that Cornish is bigger in size than AJ and he might need to close the distance here, fighting inside. I heard that he is huge Mike Tyson fan and tried to emulate his style in his early amateur carrier. Lets see if Joshua can bring some Tyson on the table

Really this should be over and out within 2 rounds for Big Josh. Cornish has done well to get this far. He had never even thought about lacing up the gloves until he answered an advertisement from Scottish promoter Tommy Gilmour Jr. MBE who was looking for aspiring big, strong, raw and, crucially, Scottish HW's with a remit to polish them up, turn them pro and hopefully become the first Scot to win the British heavyweight title. Gary Cornish was the winner of said 'competition'. His athletic background I believe was previously with Highland League Football.
He's been brought along very slowly and it appears that Mr.Gilmour has decided this is the moment to cash in. The closest Cornish had previously been to sharing the squared circle with any kind of name was when Evander Holyfield accepted the job before being made an offer. The fight soon disappeared when Evander spotted the lack of zero's on the contract.
Gilmour is very tight with the show's promoter Eddie Hearn and even more so with Eddie's father, International Boxing Hall Of Famer, Barry Hearn.
This bout is a Commenwealth title fight (currently vacant) but really is a scene setter for Joshua's REAL first pro test coming up in December against the unbeaten (and UKAD test failer, serving a 2 year ban) Dillian Whyte, who is chief support on Saturday against noted trial horse, Brian Minto. Both men are expected to come through very much unscathed.

Fascinating stuff. Thanks for the info, makes the fight more interesting now to at least know a bit about Cornish.

Round 1 is over, Dilian's opponent actually landed some shots on him and it didn't seemed like the one sided fight everyone espected, but ... Knockdown for Dillian right at the bell by right cross.

Round 2 - over. Again some shots landed on Dilian's head, but he pretty much dominated the round.

Round 3 - K.O. Right cross counter + left hook to finish the things off in the 15'th second of Round 3 for Whyte!

There are holes in the Whyte's defense and if he gets hit like he got in this fight by heavy puncher like Joshua, he will be in TROUBLE.

Dillian did a good job of making himself the big underdog if the Joshua fight comes to pass.

Dave Ryan-John Wayne Hibbert III is up next. The first two were proper scraps, this one should be as well.
