Kunlun Fightstore.steampowered.com/app/565670The VR game they've shown a little every now and then for a long time already. Thought maybe it was already released in China somewhere but guess it's been a work in progress.

Why... did they release a VR-only early access title?
VR has insanely low market penetration and most PC gamers chuckle at early access because it always ends is failure.
I... don't understand Kunlun, at all.

It's all the hype in China.
The whole being on steam thing is probably an afterthought for westerners I'd assume primarily it's on/it'll be on some Chinese marketplaces. Their streaming partner I think is huge into VR and pretty sure Kunlun and a bunch of the other promotions already stream on separate VR apps and such. Could see people watching Kunlun on their VR stuff and then getting the game recommended to them "hey you too can be like Buakaw".
Hope they add a banana tree mode into the game and make some vid where Buakaw gets beat by the tree.

I've looked up a gameplay video on Steam and I haven't seen the player throw a single kick. It would be hilarious if you can only punch in a kickboxing game, especially when the cpu CAN do both. It kinda looks like Wii Sports Boxing with a Kunlun mod patched over it. Graphically it doesn't look half bad, but this clearly isn't for me.
We're in desperate need for a GOOD kickfighting game, or any good fightsport simulation really. The direction EA has taken the UFC games definitely isn't for me, it's been years since the last Fight Night came out and the last K-1 titles from D3 were a step back from the Konami titles. Give me a good fightsport simulation with current gen standards.

Hope they add a banana tree mode into the game and make some vid where Buakaw gets beat by the tree. Here's what I found about China's VR market: "Canalys predicts global sales of 6.3mn VR headset units in 2016, of which 40% will be sold in China." www.vrfocus.com/2016/10/china-the-fastest-growing-vr-market-in-the-world/So, we're looking at over two and a half million headsets in the country. This chart is showing the same (https://www.statista.com/statistics/458037/virtual-reality-headsets-unit-sales-worldwide/) -- take into account that if a game is on PC, it only works on PC-based VR sets, like the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift. The rest are for Android smartphones or PS4's headset. You can assume that the rest of the sales are mostly in Western Europe or the United States. I can't find solid numbers on either, but that's my best guess that you could probably say 40% in China, 40% in the US. It's a virtually nonexistent market in the US right now due to the cost of entry. I have a pretty solid, if unremarkable gaming PC that I put together a few years ago for $1200. If I were to invest the $800 in a new VR headset, I'd need to also invest AT LEAST $300 more in my PC to get it up to the *minimum* specs. Essentially, VR is incredibly expensive and outside of the reach of what I would assume is their audience. I'm sure it's a cool thing to have and say they have, but release it on a few other platforms as well is all I'm saying. They have 563 million people using smartphones daily in China and growing. That's where you attract people. I wish this wasn't one of the things I knew entirely too much about because this is absolutely worthless information.

I may be in minority here but I think the fighting game business would do better without crappy titles like that getting made. VR kickboxing? Really? The UFC games weren't that bad actually. Now if someone would invest some time and money to make a kickboxing or muay thai alternative. That's a really long shot though.

It's funny because we have a bunch of dudes at two weights now. Also, because of Kunlun there are more weird weight classes out there and it's getting more difficult to discern between Middleweight and Welterweight. Why can't kickboxing just be like boxing and use a set system for weight classes? Things had finally sorted themselves out with essentially the It's Showtime system taking over, yet now we've got goddamned 80kg tournaments, not 77 or 85, but 80.

Yeah I think I've seen Kyshenko ranked at Heavyweight on one of the Chinese rankings Shadess shared.

Levin news. Will fight at "WLF" early 2017. They seemed to want him for the NYE show but he wasn't ready. Could fight at Phoenix in Lebanon where Buakaw fought also. Is/was in talks with Enfusion for a title fight but they didn't offer enough money yet anyways.
