I know. I know.
The reactions would've been hilarious.

Man, there's always something with these Dutch events.
That video only has audio in the right speaker. Left is dead. C'mon.

Considerable weight difference between Badr and Hesdy btw, but both men look in shape.

Glory 51 - SuperFight Series Welterweight Contender Headline Bout: Alim Nabiyev defeats Cédric Doumbé by Split Decision Welterweight Co-Headline Bout: Mohammed Jaraya defeats Miles Simson by Unanimous Decision Lightweight Bout: Tyjani Beztati defeats Anil Cabri by KO R1 (High Kick) Featherweight Bout: Massaro Glunder defeats Victor Pinto by Unanimous Decision (29-28) Middleweight Bout: Kevin van Heeckeren defeats Bart Kroon by KO R1 (Punches)
Comments thus far: All in all pretty decent SFS!
+ Beztati vs. Cabri was great while it lasted + Nabiyev vs. Doumbé got better as it went on + Progression of fight quality was for the most part well paced
- While competitive, in retrospect Jaraya vs. Simson would have been more suited to be scheduled before the Beztati fight - Glunder vs. Pinto got weaker as it went on - Van Heeckeren vs Kroon was meh
Main card kicks off in 30 minutes!

Glory 51 - Rotterdam Heavyweight Headline Bout: Badr Hari defeats Hesdy Gerges by Unanimous Decision Welterweight Tournament Final Bout: Eyevan Danenberg defeats Thongchai Sitsongpeenong by Unanimous Decision Heavyweight Co-Headline Bout: Tomas Mozny defeats Daniel Skvor by Unanimous Decision Welterweight Tournament Semifinal Bout B: Eyevan Danenberg defeats Jimmy Vienot by Split Decision Welterweight Tournament Semifinal Bout A: Thongchai Sitsongpeenong defeats Alan Scheinson by Split Decision
Comments after the Main Card: Why was only the main fight good?
+ Badr Hari vs. Hesdy Gerges - Not only was it good, but it was better than I expected.
- Once more being confronted with the undeniable reality that someone who has decision power at Glory said "Mozny vs. Skvor is our Co-Headliner for this event!" - Sitsongpeenong vs. Scheinson after the first round - Another subpar tournament being shoved down our throats that had no place occupying 60% of the main card. It's like nobody at Glory realizes how much these actually hurt the quality of their overall product.
Which again leads to one of the bigger recurring issues with Glory events. While individually the cards had more or less decent pacing, there's a big problem here: When you watch the whole event with both cards back to back - like most of us do - going from the SFS' main event to the first fight of the main card tends to feel like a huge step down in quality, because that's exactly what it is. I'm not even going into the issue that SFS cards often end up being better than the main cards.
I'll be blunt: Other than Badr vs. Hesdy, the main card was bad. It completely destroyed the momentum and goodwill that was built up by the very decent SFS card. Unfortunately, my reservations ended up being completely justified.
On a sidenote: The Rotterdam police tweeted that a few dozen crowd members got into two separate fights in and outside of the venue. I couldn't have thought of a more fitting end to this post.

I assume its unsustainable going forward. The UFC PPVs do that thing of splitting up the card because a. They make real money by converting their wider Prelim viewership into PPV sales b. They have enough roster depth to ensure they don't get a stream of suck in the prelims Its oddly backwards for Glory where the initial part of the card is where they make the money, but their main card is where they need wider viewership. Eventually I assume their ESPN deal doesn't work out. Don't know what impact that has on their financials, but could actually be best for them if that means they need to just make sure they have one coherent event.

It would've been a great show if it was just the SFS and the main event. I know they've got innumerable regional TV deals which complicates things and gives them different streams of revenue, and that fight pass pays more, but if they could ever get to the point where it made financial sense for them to just play their strongest hand I think it would really benefit the product.

Now that Badr's back and in somewhat consistent fighting shape, curious to get a sense for where everyone thinks he stacks up to other guys in the division. How does he do in a 3R fight vs...
Rico Benjamin Adegbuyi Guto Innocente Jamal Ben Saddik Mladen Brestovac Antonio Plazibat (why not)
