Today Kyotaro defended his OBPF belt against Suthat Kalalek. He won by RTD, not sure in which round.
While trying to look up the result I stumbled upon
some boxing forum and people were bitching about Kyotaro's level of opponents and claimed his opponent was only decided a day before the fight and how Kyotaro is buying his way up the rankings.
It's funny how people who know the
least always seem to have the strongest opinions.
Kyotaro is one of the few fighters who has actually consistently tested himself both in kickboxing and boxing against solid opposition. Not even mentioning that technically he "shouldn't" even be competing at heavyweight and still he's found success.
Furthermore, his opponent was known
at least two weeks ago. It's just people not bothering to even Google something and trust a single source for all their info.
I'm all for fair, constructive criticism, but man the internet is a toxic place. It never fails to remind me. /rant
With this win Kyotaro moves up to 20-1 and looking at the most recent WBO rankings I was surprised to see:
HEAVYWEIGHT (Over 201 lbs) ( Over 91.17 kgs)
CHAMPION ANTHONY JOSHUA UK
1 Alexander Povetkin (International)
2 Dillian Whyte
3 Jarrell Miller
4 Tom Schwarz (Int-Cont)
5 Dominic Breazeale
6 Zhilei Zhang (Oriental)
7 Kyotaro Fujimoto (Asia-Pacific)
8 Bryant Jennings
9 Agit Kabayel
10 Tyrone Spong (Latino)
www.wboboxing.com/rankingsIt's cool to see 3 former kickboxers in the top 10 as I had no idea Miller, Kyotaro and even Spong were ranked that high.
Hopefully one or more of them is stepping up to a serious fight soon.
