Another working-class white American. The owner of Becky's Flowers in Midland Texas. Can't even imagine in a not-so-distant future she will be behind bars. Talk about voluntary confession. She seems proud even, but also kind of aware that you're not supposed to do what she did. I'd love to know indeed if she gets prosecuted.
As a whole the entire coup is very well registered, it's not like anyone can remain anonymous.
In the end it makes me wonder. According to the sources I read 4 people lost their lives so far, and it was Orange Donnie who kept the national guard back.... First: Would they all have died if he did have the capitol properly defended, or would it have been worse? Second: out of all his atrocities, he should be held accountable for this.

I sometimes think we should hold the Japanese accountable for contaminating the world with their national pastime of anonymous shitposting. Much of the harmful crap that has led to this sorry state we are in originated from the early Japanese online culture = futaba channel = 2chan, the mother of 4chan and 8kun. I didn't know that was a national pastime. LOL
In my opinion you don't post shit, but that's why you do this? ;-)

She is very proud, of course. And she is as good as dead now. Storming the Capitol is of course a serious crime, and whether she "vandalized" stuff or not doesn't even matter. And the FBI vowed to go all the way. The fact a cop was killed makes the lives of those MAGA even harder. The felony murder. Since it's hard to pin it on specific individuals, the FBI will get every single one who was there. They vandalized the Capitol, the most sacred place in America. The FBI, and the courts will give them hell.

I know it has been enhanced/upgraded for Covid-19 since the spring at least, but the fact that it's still standing is quite frankly amazing. I suspect you have to be really, really, really sick to be admitted in the hospital now. I also suspect that people who do NOT have Covid-19 are dying already because they couldn't be treated now. That's a form of triage. Those are not the kind of numbers that the NHS should be able to deal with. Hell, even the German health care system would start malfunctioning with such large volumes of patients. Many hospitals are overwhelmed now. The news is full of stories of ambulances sitting outside with the patients stuck in them.
The outrage about how we got here is very much lacking though. Instead, people have decided it's time for... more clapping on the doorsteps! I don't think the NHS staff are taking it in such good spirits this time round.
The media are mostly treating it like it's some completely unavoidable natural disaster. As you have pointed out before in this thread, it's North Korea style.
Jesus Baby Christ, clapping again? Good grief. The impression that I get from the Guardian is that the media are at a loss, and a bit scared. The psychological damage that the new variant in particular inflicted on the collective psyche, at least of the people who still care, is very much evident.

LOL The extent to which 2chan (now 5chan) caused social illness in this country cannot be overstated. 4chan inherited all the worst things and pretty much none of the good things about 2chan, and ended up spreading the poison to the non-Japanese world.

Another working-class white American. A stay-at-home father, of five children, who makes and sells furniture, whose wife is a medical doctor. This typical working-class white American family seem to live in a very non-working-class area of Bradenton, Florida. Damn, everyone is so goddamn working-class!

OK, I'll stop this stupid "working-class" shit now. But normal "working-class white Americans" wouldn't act this way. They know some hardship, and wouldn't believe that such actions would have no consequences, or that they would only get a slap on the wrist at worst, or that cops are really on their side.
This strangely optimistic, self-serving, convenient, naive way of thinking is a hallmark of pampered American middle-class. I'm not saying that working-class blue-collar Americans aren't a sizable group in MAGA, but the person who took a dump in the trash can in Nancy Pelosi's room makes $300k a year. It is a distinctly (slightly-upper-)middle-class movement.

You know, it's galling of this two-faced dumb shit to say it with a straight face despite having joined that Texas vs. Pennsylvania bullshit and amicus brief himself. The bottom line is that the fucker's angling for 2024 too. But when he's (mostly) right he's (mostly) right, the Dan Crenshaw version. Capitol rioting: Rep. Crenshaw blasts fellow Republicans for 'lying' to Trump supporterswww.foxnews.com/politics/capitol-riots-dan-crenshaw-violence-cruz-hawley

Hopelessly out of touch.
It's amazing that the people who were born in America, grew up in America, served for America, and talked incessantly about America their whole lives are the ones who understand America the least.
You think the riot "made it easier to unify the country" only because you think what you see in D.C. and on the national media is America, Joe. You are clueless.

He was born rich, grew up rich, and joined the world of the rich as he made his own business (thanks to Dad's money, but anyway).
But every wealthy asshole made fun of him, often even in his presence. He was always a very easy target to pick on, despite his stereotypical bully character. I had the chance to observe him relatively close by, and at least during that period, he was more of a bullied than a bully. People mercilessly made fun of him behind his back, and he was aware of that.
That's the first thing that you must know about Donald Trump if you want to understand his popularity. He doesn't have to fake grievances. His grievances are ridiculously petty. But they are real.
We live in the world of politics of grievances.
And it's precisely his real AND petty grievances that attract a certain type of middle-class Americans, because those people are driven by their own petty grievances too. That's why Donald can make them laugh and feel good.
He really is hilarious. He's a natural-born entertainer.
The MAGA will stay, but it's hard to replace Donald. It would be hard even for Don Jr.

So, I'll tell you what happened after Donald greeted the rich Israeli man.
He called the guy again and *very politely*, in his own polite way, said to him, "Erm, forget it, I made a mistake, turns out I don't need it from you. I'm sorry, and I thank you for trying to help me, but I made some wrong calculation! I'm pretty bad, you know, sometimes I'm pretty bad."
He needed that money badly, but hated him even more badly. Couldn't bear it. The project went kaput partially because of that.

Seriously, one of the good things about 2chan was that while everyone is shitposting racist/sexist/demented garbage, some hero like this waltz in and becomes an instant legend. No one knows who it was, but "the sun is going down and you're getting cold" lives forever.

Disclosure: I was blocked by Donald Trump on Twitter years ago. I'm not going to lie, it stung a bit.
But it doesn't matter anymore, as you know.
