Youyang Gu did some data analysis on the correlation between the infection rates and what I call in this thread "partial (herd) immunity."

And he didn't find any meaningful correlation.

His data show that New York is just an outlier. That's consistent with what I kept saying in this thread way back, isn't it?

I didn't do any such analyses myself, but did notice the general trend of non-correlation early on. That's how I concluded that the second wave will be even bigger than the spring wave contrary to the consensus back then. I stopped believing in "partial immunity."

I'm glad Youyang made that evident and clear in his charts.

Our conclusion is basically that "partial immunity" is bollocks. It *might* kick in above a certain level, like 40%, but there are very, very few areas in the world whose infection rates have reached 40-50%.

Much of the confusion comes from the fact that people think the US is comparable to Western European democracies.

Screw the McCains, but the insane Trumpian far-right-ward move of the state GOP only means one thing, and that is the state of Arizona is going bluer and bluer. It's always a reliable sign. See Virginia for example. Complete nutcases dominate the state GOP over there now, and Virginia had been a reliably red state until recently, like Arizona.

Virginia is one of the bluest states today. Trump didn't even bother to campaign there this time.

You get radicalized as you're losing the war. The Arizona GOP asked on Twitter whether you are willing to *die for the president* not so long ago. No coming back to the normal world from that.

There are insurrections, riots, "revolutions," you name it, in the world. Politically left or right, people rise up and storm political centers.

But this is clearly not normal. These people are filming themselves. They don't care. And they just leave with creepy smiles on their faces. They don't really grasp the meaning of what they have done, what they are doing.

These extremely spoiled people who know no hardship in the world are all fucking LARPing. It's a fucking joke, but that doesn't make it harmless at all.

And it's first and foremost these MAGA that must thank him. If they had gone the other way, there were some officers, more of the suit-wearing secret-service type - protecting Congresspeople down the hall. They wouldn't have hesitated to shoot the MAGA up and turn it into a massacre as they were the last defense (That's how that QAnon-crazy woman got shot and died).

The whole thing could've very easily gone wrong especially since those LARPers have no idea what a real close-combat battle is like. They are eager to step onto a minefield because they are fucking idiots.

We are lucky that ONLY five people died.
