Interesting.
For some reason I'm expecting a ton of Russian and Chinese 'amateurs' to wreak havoc at the Olympics once the day comes.

There are many combat sports that want to enter, like taekwondo did. For instance also Kempo, which is heavily dominated by Romanians. And compared to others, they have Marius Vizer behind plus received a huge budget.

Samedov ending up fighting anonymous opponents in Minsk casinos. As much as I like him, he only fought Badr and that's all. Has refused real oppositions in real promotions since LEGEND.

I have mixed feelings about Samedov's career these past few years.
Since he TKO'd Badr he has fought and defeated:
- Melvin Manhoef - Stefan Leko - Makoto Uehara - Steven McKinnon - Dzevad Poturak - Paul Slowinski - Catalin Morosanu - Errol Zimmerman - Freddy Kemayo - Brice Guidon
And a handful of lesser known fighters.
That's not exactly a list of nobodies. All these fighters are recognizable and it's valuable to hold a victory over them.
All that said; a lot of these fights were conveniently timed: opponent coming off multiple losses / inactivity / injury / past their primes and some decisions have been a bit fishy to put it mildly.
The Zimmerman and Guidon fights in particular were very close and could have gotten another result outside of Russia.
I would have preferred for Samedov to really test himself against the current elite.
It can still happen though; Samedov is 'only' 36 and still appears to be in shape. Due to being a smaller HW he could also try himself at LHW.
Maybe he's content taking less risky fights for a few more years before he hangs them up.
Who knows..

Tenshin fought the modified boxing rounds against Hideo Tokoro, Hiroya and Koki Osaki earlier today. No result was announced.
I haven't seen it yet, so for those who have; how did it go?

Have not seen any of it. From what I have read Koki, the smallest guy he took on put up the best fight and it was very close. Tenshin actually scored a knockdown on Hiroya, who was the biggest guy he faced. He faced Tokoro last and apparently got the better of him also.

I saw (most of) it. Koki did the best yea, early on probably beat Tenshin. I sorta missed a minute or so of it and seeing other comments I guess Tenshin did better later into the round.
Hiroya mostly stood there with a high guard and imitated a punching bag. I suppose as it is Tenshin "fighting" a lot of people will watch it, but not really worth seeking out.

So at least 100k, but for what exactly?
It may seem like a lot at first glance, but when you consider this may very well include multiple fights it's really not that much.
Nevertheless, Glory's been throwing around a lot of dough. Part of that is infuriating since they screwed over a lot of creditors that are never going to see their money. From the perspective of (upcoming) fighters though, announcements like these are a good thing though as they support the idea that there is money to be made in kickboxing.

First comment below Glory's Facebook message regarding this news: "The fans don't want PPVs you are just forcing people to stream the fight illegally"
He's not wrong.

Any fighter with a top name or Glory at 70, requires a minimum of 10k euros (probably guys like Gershon not though). In ONE you earn a few times more, even Kiria does. Glory names are required now in Romania, some do not have exclusive contracts like Adegbuyi, but with such Jauncey contracts it will be difficult. You can only get on the map by fighting good opponents. If you fight with the Russians/Soviets, you may go unnoticed unfortunately.

I remember Petrosyan was allegedly making as little as 11k per fight during a certain period of his prime, which I find shocking for arguably the GOAT of 70kg kickboxing.

Kiria has at least 30,000 in ONE as far as I know. Superbon 40-50k. Petrosyan is way over. But it's ONE and crazy Chatri.
I guess Jauncey will get around 20-25k per fight. It's a lot. Even if they want, smaller promotions can't pay him better than the locals. Plus this is a purse a la old Stoica and Morosanu. Or almost, without sales/ratings though.
It still depends, sometimes they give up money. But rarely they will agree if they are active in the top promotions.
