That's a nice looking tournament. Really cool that it's 8 man and they got Marcus.
Curious to see who the last two names will be. Will Levin be one of them?

Wow, interesting that they are trying a PPV. Im not sure if that is wise this early in building up the Glory brand in the U.S.

I feel the same. However, I think this is why they split up the event in two parts; They realize that they're taking a risk.

Am I the only one who has never been impressed with Verlinden at all and wonder why they keep trying to push him as a big talent?

Filip is solid but very unspectacular, to me anyway. You always get a solid showing from him but never anything that makes you want to go back and watch one of his fights again. I really hope the 8th guy is Levin. Like, really hope.

So rumors about the 'regular' fightcard are that it consists of a 4 Man Tournament and a HW Titlefight, presumably Verhoeven VS Ghita.

Can someone clear this up for me. Is it right that under Glory policy the winner of the contender tournaments get a title shot for example if Zimmerman wins this tournament his next fight will be for the title. However Glory also allows fighters who gave not won a contender tournament a title fight for example if the rumours are true Ghita will be fighting for the title. Can anyone clarify?

It seems to be a bit random for each weight class, but I think it's "supposed" to work like this;
Winning the Contender Tournament earns a fighter the 4th spot in the Championship Tournament where he joins the #1, #2 and #3 ranked fighters.
Looking at the current rumors I guess with the Heavyweights it's possible that the winner of the Contender Tournament earns a direct title shot against the winner of Ghita (Ranked #1) VS Verhoeven (Ranked #2).
It would make sense in terms of raising Barry's chances to fight for the Heavyweight title which I'm sure would please Spike - even if he is just in the reserve bout as things currently stand.
My real gripe with all this is Glory's manipulation of rankings. It makes absolutely no sense that Ghita is ranked above Verhoeven at this point in time and by manipulating the rankings like they are doing they can 'get away' with crap like putting Saki in the LHW tournament above Ilunga.

Filip is a talented dude, no doubt, I mean he's fought from Heavyweight all the way down to Middleweight now. Just... Never impressed me.
GLORY's rankings make zero sense. Zero.
From what I've heard GLORY 17 will feature the following; Feathwerweight title tournament on Spike TV, Middleweight title tournament on PPV, Ghita vs. Rico for the HW title on PPV.
GLORY also lists the HW title as vacant on their website right now, even though Semmy Schilt clearly won it eons ago at GLORY 1. I wonder if they'll recognize that reign or just pretend it never happened. I also wonder if Whitaker will ever apologize for implying that I "made up" that Schilt was retired for page views.
