So do those pictures mean Marcus has a broken foot and jaw? We may get a report later if he has broken or fractured bones or sprains or whatever, but he's injured one way or another I would assume.

There were fun bits of action scattered throughout and the production value was on point. Pereira beating Marcus would have been a bigger surprise if he hadn't beaten Adesanya earlier this year, but yeah it's still a big achievement. Remember when Pereira was made look like a chump by Artem Levin just three years ago? I'm not saying he'd beat Artem now, but he sure looks way more impressive nowadays than he did back then. Also yeah, I'm assuming Marcus has suffered a possibly fractured jaw and a foot/ankle injury? I'm 100% with you guys that I'm happy Onari saved Bigfoot from certain brain damage. Bigfoot needs to think long and hard about what he wants to do next. If he absolutely must continue fighting for the foreseeable future, his best bet might be to try and get some easier fights in Rizin and then hang them up. Looking at these past 3 years of his performances, he's clearly past it and it would be a shame seeing him continue on this path, knowing full well what it ultimately leads to. As for Rico, this fight doesn't really tell us anything as he was never truly in any kind of serious trouble. Aside from Bigfoot/Rico being a pointless and unwanted fight, I will say that putting Junior Tafa vs. Quanchao Luo on the main card, as a co-main event no less, was a crime against humanity. A fight of that calibre is a logical choice for the undercard, so why not just put it there? It's decision like that (among others) that make me question how serious Glory is taking China as a potential market to expand to. Let's see what the fruits of this event will be in the long run.

Was supposed to be Ye Xiang vs. Tafa so that made sense but with the replacement that match up wasn't so good anymore.
Bigfoot should definitely do Rizin/RoadFC HW type fights instead yeah. Mighty Mo and Hong-Man Choi seemed to do pretty well at Road and they got Aorigele too who isn't exactly a world beater. Seems Mighty Mo is still the Road FC champ.

Supposedly Sitti has signed a new contract with Glory, so I'm assuming he didn't have one for a while there then. Been weird with him gone from Glory for so long and nobody really talked about it at all. Was funny seeing him do interviews about the Yi Long fight at G46

Todd Grisham argued with me on Twitter that Onari wasn't a good ref because he did a standing 8-count in the heavyweight fight. Onari, who literally saved them from becoming a major news piece on every MMA outlet about doing something wrong. Okay.
Sigh.

I don't believe that there is even such a thing as a standing 8-count in Glory's rules. I know that there hasn't been one used in any major boxing match in about twenty years. Bigfoot got knocked down by a head kick in round 2 for what was surely recorded as an official knockdown, and when he got up the referee counted for what should have been a 10-count, although in actuality he saw Bigfoot seemed okay at the moment and stopped counting at 8. Bigfoot really should have been counted to a full 10 before the referee allowed him to continue. The referee correctly used his discretion to stop the fight shorty thereafter without a count at all because Bigfoot wasn't intelligently defending himself as Rico delivered more blows.

He meant the other heavyweight fight, the one that ended pretty quickly. His argument was "it's pretty embarrassing to say there are no standing 8-counts in GLORY only for a ref to do one right after." Which I get, but Onari is probably the only ref that I've never wanted to rage at and almost always does a uniformly good job. He's been primarily the K-1 ref for years, where standing 8-counts very much exist. I have no problem with the occasional standing 8-count because, truth be told, most people won't know the difference anyway. Onari absolutely ended the Bigfoot fight at the right time and helped GLORY avoid being headline news of awfulness.

I sympathise with Todd's viewpoint, because as a commentator something like that probably seems much more important. But to literally everybody else that's coming a colossally distant second to the fact that he's stopping guys getting their eggs scrambled permanently.
And I get the play from Glory, that the best promotion for them comes from MMA circles, so to promote an upcoming PPV they use Bigfoot as a human billboard. But it's cynical, it's degrading for all parties, and I'm glad that Onari's skill and experience meant that it was just a waste, not a disaster. And given the reaction from MMA circles the second this fight was announced I doubt it's done them any favours.

You know what, one thing I wanted to mention here. I liked the chemistry between the two ring announcers, I think if you're going to honestly try and get into a market it's a good idea to give the local language an equal footing, but their well choreographed hollering was actually fun to see rather than a long distraction while they bumbled through repetitive introductions.
Definitely much better than Bruce Buffer learning how to say ladies and gentlemen in a language but the show being otherwise identical, right down to the announcement letting you know you have time to pee.

I think Tim can be a bit... cheesy? But he's very good at what he does.
