Wow, surprised to see a card this strong so soon after 45. Thank you Glory!

Wait, is Glory doing two featherweight tournaments in a row? Why?

They've seen how well having a 100 different HW contender winners waiting around has worked so why not do it at FW too! j/k LW is a bit ? with Sitthichai being ? and Marat being ? and rest of the division being kinda ? so can't do much but ? WW you have Harut, Doumbe and Holzken that all could be shoved into a title fight already. MW already has scheduled top, non tournament fights. LHW is pretty set for near future too with a title fight coming and then the looming title/interim title greatness that will be Vakhitov-Zhuravlev, as long as Machado doesn't spoil things. HW. Well HW probably doesn't ever need a contender tournament anymore. Haven't just about all these guys won something to earn a title shot? Well other than Silva, but Silva is Silva and he just gets put into things anyway. +Bigfoot and Hari could be in any fights too. ANYWAY...the entirely rational conclusion here is FW tournaments DON'T YOU SEE?!?!?!?!!111

Wow there are so many heavyweights who've won contender tournaments of some sort.
I have the solution. How about those guys who've won these qualifying tournaments and maybe a couple of wildcards like Bigfoot and Hari go on to fight each other in another meta-super-Contenders tournament. Make eight or so of them fight each other on one night. A sort of Grand Prix to decide the #1 Kickboxer if you will. Heck if it does well, you can make it a recurring thing so there's some context to all this fighting and not just random contender fights and round robin title matchups.
Makes you wonder why noone's ever done it.

I don't like the card at all so far. I like that Vakhitov is back, but I have a hard time watching Machado. The one good thing is that finally one of the contender tournament winners is getting a title shot (i.e. Machado), although by now almost every fighter on the Glory roster has won a contender tournament at some point so I guess it was only a matter of time.
Also, having back-to-back featherweight tournaments is just another big middlefinger to anyone paying even a lick of attention.

Wait, is Glory doing two featherweight tournaments in a row? Why? So there can be more alliteration? A FLURRY OF FEATHERWEIGHTS A FIRESTORM OF FEATHERWEIGHTS A FEATHERWEIGHT FUCKFEST... errr, maybe not that one?

Glory has already made it clear that the tournaments are not simply to determine the guy who gets the next title shot. They just like putting 4 guys in a 1 night tourney and I'm okay with that. The China tournament is really just to produce a solid Asian addition to the division anyways. This tournament should produce a strong title contender, whether they get the shot or not.

I really enjoyed the China card and am looking forward to this card. FYI- the tournament in China was a Qualification Tournament, which Glory has done before. The fighters at Glory 46 were fighting for a spot on the roster and the winner is supposed to receive a slot in a future Contender Tournament. The tournament in Lyon is Contender Tournament, the winner of which is supposed to get a title shot or at least move one step closer to one.

They have more or less admitted in private that none of these tournaments are for immediate contendership anymore.

I think between Dave's article on LiverKick and our (justified) ranting here we've pretty much covered how winning a tournament doesn't mean jack and how something should change. And Dave hinted that a change might be coming indeed.
I'm looking forward to this card though.

It's an huge overstatement to say that winning a Glory Contender tournament doesn't mean jack. Most of the tournament winners have gotten title shots within a reasonable period of time after their tournament win. I recently compiled a list of tournament winners from 2016 to present and the numbers bore that out. Glory is obviously being a bit more flexible about it now since they have had a lot of tournaments and as a result some weight classes where the deserving contenders are stacking up. So some of the recent tournament winners have had to wait their turn or got put into a number one contender type of fight in some cases. A good example of a recent tournament that worked perfectly from my perspective is Glory 43 NYC in July this year where Kevin VanNostrand won two fights dominantly and looked better than ever. No one was talking about him as the next challenger before. Or even talking about him at all for that matter. According to Glory he's supposed to be the next challenger for Robin van Roosmalen. I hope that comes off as planned because it's a fresh matchup and maybe stylistically interesting too.

FWIW the full card is out for this and I like the main card way better than the SFS.

OP updated the full card. Ehh.. I still don't really like either card and think they're both 'okay' at best. However, I'm coming off a high from Glory 45 and an interesting experiment in Glory 46 so I'm still optimistic about this show at least ending up being entertaining. Glory's France events usually deliver. It's an huge overstatement to say that winning a Glory Contender tournament doesn't mean jack. I hope that comes off as planned because it's a fresh matchup and maybe stylistically interesting too. Here's a list of when the trend of tournament winners not getting title shots began until its most recent instance: Glory 29 - Ismael Londt wins Tournament > NO Title Fight Glory 30 - Richard Abraham wins Tournament > NO Title Fight Glory 31 - Murthel Groenhart wins Tournament > Title Fight Glory 32 - Zinedine Hameur-Lain wins Tournament > NO Title Fight Glory 33 - Matt Embree wins Tournament > Title Fight Glory 34 - Israel Adesanya wins Tournament > Title Fight Glory 35 - Benjamin Adegbuyi wins Tournament > NO Title Fight Glory 36 - Dylan Salvador wins Tournament > Title Fight Glory 37 - Yoann Kongolo wins Tournament > Title Fight Glory 38 - Ariel Machado wins Tournament > Title Fight Glory 39 - Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao wins Tournament > Title Fight Glory 40 - Yousri Belgaroui wins Tournament > NO Title Fight Glory 41 - D'Angelo Marshall wins Tournament > NO Title Fight So within that timeframe 13 tournaments produced only 7 Title Fights. That's an awful statistic that destroys your credibility as a promotion. Glory literally markets these contender tournaments as if winning one makes you next in line for a title shot. That's clearly not the case, unless it fits within Glory's agenda or narrative or however you want to call it. Glory does the same with their hilariously awful rankings where logic does not apply to them, but I digress.. I say winning a tournament doesn't mean jack, because it brings you no closer to a title than 'just' winning 2 non-tournament fights back to back does. There is literally no added value or need for these tournaments. It doesn't help that they have - largely - become a bore to watch to the point where I've grown to dread the term '4-Man Tournament'. They were a requirement of the Spike-TV deal, but for some reason Glory is still doing them. IMO they're wasting precious slots on the main card and if Glory must absolutely keep doing them for whatever reason I wish they; - either stop calling them contender tournaments OR return to consistently handing out title shots - put them (at least partially) on the SFS portion of the card so they don't take up 60%(!!) of the main card
