Just listened to this and Camaro Kev said 'If kickboxing isn't getting big in the US, it's not going to be big overall'. That's just such complete bullshit. While sure, 'conquering' the US market would help the sport be bigger and gain popularity, the sport will be fine as long as (the main) promotions keep putting on events consistently. The landscape has taken a hit this year, but I blame COVID and Glory's issues for the lionshare of it. If anything Glory's stubborn focus on mediocre American fighters and events in the US and ultimately failure to conquer that market has hurt the promotion a lot more than anything else. Remy said kickboxing may be going the way of Karate, but I think this is just a temporary dip. K-1 is still there, Glory is still there somehow, ONE is still there for the time being at least and we have tons of local promotions putting together events even now. Besides, it's not like Karate is somehow a dead sport today. It's ingrained into striking and an integral part of both MMA and kickboxing. It may not be everyone's go-to sport/discipline depending on what you're trying to achieve, but that has to do more with how effective you can be with it under the ruleset you're going to compete under. BTW I like Camaro Kev and his podcast, I just heavily disagree with his take and it feels very much like a biased American perspective.

Ghita is trashing Adegbuyi on social media again. Such a sad, bitter man. If they fought now Ghita would get his ass kicked. Ghita is moral and unlike others would never agree to betray, but is not very compatible with the civilised world. I hope Benny doesn't hear about this mess on match day. Because in fact Ghita does not want to fight with anyone, Catinas asked him nicely to accept the fight. That's what Ghita does all day, he sits in a chair and comments. And he takes care of the boy, but he never thought of coming back, it seems he just fooled us. Wait, he's a deputy now!

Andrew Tate has a documented history of being a terrible human being including beating up a woman. Can't wait for him to fight someone half decent and getting destroyed. His biggest win is over (at the time) 43 year old Wendell Roche and that was over 6 years ago, so Tate's career is going absolutely nowhere. How and when? Both Tates think they are big investors now, but I don't think they make money from agriculture but from slot machines and videochat studios. Andrew has a penchant for religion but doesn't take it seriously. Not my business, but he prefers to live a depraved life of nothing. Basically like Badr Hari, although Golden Boy tells us he has a diet.. Their father was someone, and I don't think he would have been proud of them. Sometimes it's better to be poor materially but to stay better with your head.

This is not about 'being loyal to Badr'. He can like Badr and still wish Benny good luck, but he's been on his ass for a long time about losing to Ben Saddik among other things. He makes fun of Adegbuyi's opposition (Morosanu's as well) while Ghita himself was fighting guys over 40 in his 'big comeback' which ammounted to nothing. The reality is that Ghita thinks he's worth a lot more money than anyone is willing to or able to pay him for bigger fights. But if you've been gone for this long without ever having reached your full potential in your glory days (no pun intended), you have to prove your money's worth. Especially if you're pushing 40. Ever since Ghita lost a few high profile fights he's gradually changed from a likeable guy I wanted to support into a sore, unsympathetic loser who blames every obstacle in his career on 'bad politics'.

Sometimes it's better to be poor materially but to stay better with your head. This is just a tiny taste of the insanity surrounding Tate: Random of the day, on Andrew Tate. Andrew Tate has been briefly internet famous today because he said depression isn't real on Twitter, so a bunch of people have been arguing with him and because kickboxing isn't the kind of sport that gets attention none of them know he is insane I guess Andrew Tate decided it was difficult being a pro fighter and easy to be a professional c-word [REDACTED] EDIT: I thought was noteworthy cause it was being endorsed by K1Anoop. Apparently, I'm quite wrong since apparently this is just day-to-day stuff for him. Deleting it since dipshits don't need people being a microphone for their dipshittery. Spike has a Dutch YouTube channel which features a show called 'vechtersbazen' (fighters/boss fighters). They interviewed Hari just a few days ago and to be honest it was pretty good. Unfortunately the channel only has auto-translated subs, so if you depend on English you can't make much sense of it. I will do some rough paraphrasing/translations of some of the more interesting stories and comments: - "I still want to compete for a lot more years, but only if it's at the highest level." - "When I first fought Leko, he knocked me out with a spinning back kick. After the fight he told me I had a big mouth, but in five years I'll get there. About five months later I got a chance to fight in K-1 and knocked Leko out in the revenge match. All of the big names of K-1 were there, but the only one who came to me after the fight was Ray Sefo. He told me I'm a great talent and was very nice to me. Until now that has stayed with me. I love that man. He approached me when nobody else did. I had a big mouth, but I was basically still a kid." - "Then a few years later I was scheduled to fight Sefo and I was really nervous before the fight, because he had such dangerous punches. Everyone knows of his fight with Mark Hunt. During the staredown in the ring we kind of looked angry at each other, but since that was fake and we were actually friends it turned into a smile. When the bell rang and I felt Sefo's first punch I knew he left friendship outside the ring and was out to kill me. I had to be very carefull. At a certain point I hit him with a punch that slightly wobbled him and that's when I knew this was the moment to go all out on him. I threw everything I had at him, but when I started to tire he was still standing. I knew that if I gave him a chance to recover I would be in trouble. Due to the fear of his punishment I pushed myself to keep throwing shots even though I was completely spent. Eventually he finally went down, but I don't think I ever had to dig that deep in a fight. The only one that came close to that was Karaev during our second fight." - "Adegbuyi has done well for himself, but he is a very limited fighter. I think he only started kickboxing when he was 20 years old, so he misses a lot of the fundamentals that fighters who started at a younger age possess. He probably barely had any amateur fights." - "Adegbuyi is content with being second place. He trains with Rico at a gym where Rico is #1 and he is #2. I would never go to a gym where I'm not #1. Being #2 is cool when you're like 16 or a younger fighter that still has to break through, but not when you've made it. This tells me that Adegbuyi is generally satisfied with being #2. That's why he will be satisfied with not beating me. He'll be fine with losing to me." - "I'm not underestimating Adegbuyi. I never underestimate my opponents, but I feel we shouldn't overestimate them either. Some fighters are hyped up to be unslayable dragons, when in fact they're tiny baby dragons." - "I made a name for myself when social media weren't really a thing yet. Now I see fighters who haven't really achieved anything yet putting themselves out there like they're on top of the mountain." - "Last year I left Mike's Gym for a while, because I felt we weren't really challenging each other anymore. We must always remain critical of each other. There was never any bad blood between us and everything is still fine now as well." - "I think I really exposed Rico's shortcomings, but unfortunately the fight didn't end in my favor. A year from now I will wear that belt, though." - "I find it a bit disheartening when I read all the negative comments Glory is getting online. There was a lot at play behind the scenes and a lot of work has been done to make these upcoming events possible." - However at another point he also said: "I'm not a matchmaker, but I would have seeded the HW tournament differently. I feel like some fighters are being protected by Glory." (implying Levi Rigters and his first round opponent). - "Thom Harinck is a legendary trainer, but not so great as a person. Or at least, I haven't had the best experience with him as a person. But he did tell me what makes me good is that I have a very good eye." - "I love Giorgio Petrosyan. He also has just such a good eye". - (On Faldir Chahbari, who had a good career despite having one blind eye.) "I can't imagine fighting with a handicap. I love people who are able to perform at a high level in sports while dealing with a handicap or physical limitation." - "Antonio Plazibat is the best trainingspartner to have. He always does his best and is very eager to learn. He doesn't always come up with the smartest solutions, but he doesn't give up. He is a very hard worker. Generally speaking I think that's pretty characteristic for people from Eastern Europe." - "Not too interested in Cedric Doumbe's fight. It's just that I'm generally not a big fan of these lower weightclasses. I like 85kg and up. These guys simply have more KO power. 85kg is probably my favorite weightclass to watch, because they have KO power while still being very fast." - "I'm interested in Rico vs. Jamal. From what I'm hearing Jamal lost a lot of weight and looks really good physically. But don't confuse losing weight with improving as a fighter. A lot of people seem to get confused there. They are two very different things." Probably still missing a few things here and there, but thought that covers some of the more interesting stuff at least. He is still trashing Adegbuyi. And yes, he had no amateur fights. Benny twice defeated Gerges in prime or almost prime, beat prime Londt in Suriname, defeated both Wilnis and Brestovac 3 times (some were KOs, things that Kryklia, for instance, didn't do and is almost 30 years old), knocked Zhuravlev out like in the rematch (dismantled, wrecked him) and so on. Badr couldn't impress against an old Gerges, was exposed by a chubby Londt and since Saki in 2012 isn't doing well. "Light heavyweight" Samedov took his scalp. I guess Hari will have to prove he's a champion. If the "very limited fighter" beats him, I guess he should retire. It's not like he won the K-1 WGP title. His career was not necessarily better than Ghita's for instance, but Ghita did not have a chance to fight more in Japan. At least others did not give up when they were injured, Ghita for instance, even Stoica last evening. With such trash talk, it will be a great shame to lose.
Adegbuyi went to Superpro because he does not live in Holland. Easy to say. It's better than training with Plazibat, who also comes from -95.
And yes, Levi Rigters is protected by Glory like Ben Saddik was in the tournament when Adegbuyi was better ranked but took on Wilnis and Jamal fought an injured Inocente in the semifinal. I can't say about Rigters he is any future of the Dutch heavyweight division.
Badr dislikes Thom because he's too better for him.

Well, he is worth and fun, he sold a 10,000 seat arena (BTarena). I loved his fights, though against poor opposition. He was always fair play in his career, I don't understand what happened to become so frustrated. A brain damage, or most likely it's the politics. He misunderstands some things and believes that everyone is against him. Or against Romania, than his party (most corrupt in Romania). Daniel is a huge patriot, but he makes fun of himself and denotes that he could only live in Russia. Not in the European Union.
I will always support him, but the thing is Glory kind of robbed him. Before Ubeda and the other referee pissed him off also. Ubeda also pissed him off in Glory against Schilt.
The truth is that if others would have had his mentality, but also with a tactic, they would have done more.

I agree with you that Badr hasn't accomplished anything big lately, but historically there is no denying who's the 'legend' and who's the 'journeyman'. Also, while he got injured twice nobody got Rico in trouble like Badr did over the past few years. And I'm not even a Badr fan. But sure, if Badr loses today his future doesn't look bright.
To be honest I'm not sure what Badr's bad experience with Harinck entails, but it's a known fact that Harinck has fucked over Peter Aerts for years, stealing a ton of money Aerts made from his K-1 fights.
Johan Vos did the same to Ernesto Hoost. It's in Hoost's book.

What do you mean by journeyman? Journeyman is a term for losers or for old fighters like Wendell Roche, Adegbuyi has been top 3 for about 6 years. Definitely also talented. Badr is a legend, after all Ghita is also a legend, but the man behaves as if there were no Schilt, Hoost, Aerts and others. Not a fan of Rico, but he is totally disconsidered by Badr. Bookmakers say Adegbuyi's chances are slim, but I'm curious what reasons Badr will present if he loses to a "journeyman", "carpenter", "very limited fighter", "walk in the park" etc. Funny, he also said "fighter who wants to be #2", with Bar not being #1 now. That's the story of Aerts, the Harinck family presents itself very well in society. On the other hand I totally agree Hari did a tremendous job against Rico, but it may not be repeated. Moreover Adegbuyi is a different fighter. In most of his times his chin doesn't look good, but Badr is also vulnerable and in the vicious days of Benny the Romanian is dangerous. I also think Adegbuyi hurt Ben Saddik at the beginning, and Jamal won the fight mostly because he may not be just better but because he caught him on the nose. Benny looked to have a broken nose and couldn't recover. Otherwise we could have talked about a big hype today.

I'm sure if Ghita would have been in the same ring with Adegbuyi, it would have not been sure who's winning. Both in prime. Ghita is confusing Benny with Morosanu maybe. I rate Adegbuyi over Zimmerman but of course behind the champions.

I was overexaggerating, hence the quotation marks. Also journeyman isn't really a term for losers, unless you think internet cynicism has the right idea. When I say journeyman I mean a skilled guy who is unlikely to become the champion. And while I don't like him, I would definitely say Badr is a kickboxing legend. He may never have won a K-1 WGP belt, but Sefo, JLB, Filho etc. didn't either and they're considered legends as well. The reason? They have defeated legends and/or fought in K-1 finals. Not quarterfinals, finals. Ghita isn't a legend to me. To be a legend you have to beat a legend. And I don't mean when they're over 40. Ghita hasn't defeated anybody legendary. His biggest wins are over Zimmerman, Hesdy and Jamal and while those are definitely quality wins they aren't what I would consider legends. Veteran warriors? Sure. Legends? No. Of course, from the perspective of Romanian fans Ghita's a legend and I understand that. He's made it to the K-1 WGP and had a good international career as a fighter, even though he never reached his full potential. Bookmakers say Adegbuyi's chances are slim, but I'm curious what reasons Badr will present if he loses to a "journeyman", "carpenter", "very limited fighter", "walk in the park" etc. There aren't any excuses Badr can make if he loses. That's the risk when you talk big. When you win, you win big. When you lose, you lose big.

However, with the way their personalities have developed I'd be rooting for Adegbuyi.
