efight.jp/news-20150921_209706Details of K-1's return to Japanese terrestrial TV were announced at a press conference earlier today. A 30 minute TV show named "New K-1 Legends" will be broadcast on TV Tokyo every Thursday night from 1:35 - 2:05am. The first show will be broadcast on 8 October and the weekly shows will broadcast fights from last year's 65kg WGP up until present events. Also in addition to the fights themselves there will also be documentary elements following fighters, such as those from Krush and the K-1 Challenge shows etc, trying to break into K-1. K-1 producer Kensaku Maeda said that they are aiming to move to a prime time TV slot in the future.

I'm really looking forward to the Kimura-Hiramoto main event. In true K-1 tradition, a fight matching last years Koshien Champion, who's what 17 and 3-0, against a guy with a killer left hook and twenty plus fights. Can't wait. Plus, according to K-1's site there's gonna be an announcement tomorrow after the event press conference in regards to K-1 being broadcast on terrestrial TV again... www.k-1wg.com/7118

Hilarious to see Sakakibara's smarmy face pop up on American TV.

Fascinating stuff. Thanks for the info, makes the fight more interesting now to at least know a bit about Cornish.

Ughh, such a shame McGregor's turned into a massive bellend. Still a great fighter and I love watching him fight, but he's made a total arse of it.

It's the fact I know both are you right that gets me down. Personally the way the lighter weights fight is the style of MMA I like most. It's why when I first got into MMA I became a big JMMA fan. But I know that's not the case for the most.

that's just it. DJ dominated. he didn't suck. but that fight ended up sucking because Dodson had absolutely nothing. and that could be all credit in the world to DJ for neutralizing him. I hate criticizing the dude because hes so good. but he outclasses everybody by miles and it gets tiresome. nobody in that division has anything for him. hes going to rack up 361 title defenses and nobody will notice or care. now if he was doing it like Rousey and outclassing his division by finishing everybody in the first round.... he would have more buzz. but that isn't whats happening. so you can pretty much just take a nap and know DJ Won 50-45 on all cards. You're breaking my heart, h. I could go my whole life just continuing to watch DJ decision people (though as kenshin says that's really a bit of a misconception). Ronda crushing cans like it's going out of fashion though, no thanks.

Yeah, really looking forward to this fight. Johnson was supposed to be a test for Joshua (well, for his stamina at least) and he really wasn't. I haven't seen much of Cornish (TBH I didn't know who he was until the fight was announced) but it should be a good fight.

Pretty much all the rumours of late have been about Fedor in the UFC, but theres still a chance he could end up back in Japan I think.
When it was first announced that Fedor was making a comeback there was a fair bit of speculation in Japan that he'd be fighting for a new org on NYE. It's all a bit circumstantial bit it makes some sense.
Back in July Tanikawa announced at a press conference, literally the day before the event, that Fuji TV had suddenly decided not to broadcast Ganryujima 2 on Fuji TV NEXT. He said they didn't give a reason but he'd heard Fuji TV were planning to broadcast a different fighting event on their terrestrial channel on NYE. Add to that Coker saying Sakakibara is back planning an event for this year and it seems there might be something to this.
If there indeed was a new event of that scale in the works I think it's fairly safe to assume they must have some decent amount of money to spend, and are very much in need of a big name...

Honestly, the K-1 WGP Japan shows are basically the only kickboxing events I watch anymore. I mean, I watch other single fights and what not. But in terms of sitting down and watching a whole event, this is it.

Nah, you can't pay by Paypal but you can by Visa or Mastercard. It's pretty simple actually. I'm sure there are some helpful guides online but if you need a hand let me know.

Yeah, the timing's a bit of a problem I suppose. It starts at 3pm JST and it's a tournament so it'll probably be a good few hours. The TV listing has it running til 9pm! If possible it'd be fun to do a PBP though.

Anyone else gonna watch the stream of this? I doubt I'll be able to go to the event so I was thinking about the next best thing; a good old-fashioned PBP thread...
