From what I understand they will be holding more tryouts in China with another training camp and stuff with the selected fighters then participating in this event. They're really pushing hard to develop some Chinese guys while steadily adding new partners over there. Let's see what comes out of it.

Some of the names thus far;
Kevin Ross Tiffany Van Soest Gabriel Varga
Varga is a huge deal because he's still under contract with GLORY. He was supposed to fight Mosab Amrani for the GLORY Featherweight title at GLORY 19, then they pushed it back to GLORY 20, now GLORY 19 is on the date when GLORY 20 was and he got bumped again. GLORY actually OK'd him fighting for K-1.

That's a pretty big deal about Varga, albeit no real shocker; Glory really has to make some concessions at this point.
So K-1 is going through with a female division after all. Back when it was mentioned in 2012 at that event with Doug Kaplan and Mia St. John I figured the announcement held no real weight. Guess they reconsidered. I'm not against it, just not really interested in it. Also I feel they should establish their male division(s) more clearly before putting more stuff on their plate.

Yeah, agree. I realise they may be undermanned and stuff but we heard multiple times already that they are going to establish other weightclasses with rankings and other shit. That's all good and all but time to finally do it, not just talk about it. I mean, how hard is it to specify weights for the divisions they would like to have and put up a list on their website? Like the Thailand event, they still had fights at odd weights there (71kg was it for example?). They wan't to accomodate certain fighters, ok. Just call it a catchweight then. Don't make fights with the weights all over the place, shit's confusing.
Guess Varga is there cause he's managed by Ned and Alin, right? It's good that Glory ok'd him but it's not really groundbreaking news. Different case would be if they would ok someone else. And really, at this point I don't think it would hurt either org much if they would swallow their pride and allow fighters that they don't have plans of using in the near future to fight for the other one.
Over all this looks already better than I expected it to be.

Wow, that sounds actually really promising.
Btw, Dave, what's this about with K-1 saying Ross and Van Soest will be fighting and Lion Fight responding they won't?

Basically, Lion Fight is trying to tell them they can't use Ross or Van Soest, but he also told them they couldn't sign Yodsanklai, either.
From what I've heard Van Soest is out and Ross is going to try to work something out.
The networks in China that they are airing on seem pretty big; Hunan TV, Hebei TV, Hubei TV, JiangXi TV, Anhui TV,Chongqing TV, Guangdong TV, Hainan TV and Qinghai TV. Then again, I have no clue.

From what I've heard Van Soest is out and Ross is going to try to work something out. It's a shame. I seem to recall that Lion Fight had exclusivity for US only but I could be wrong. Still, have to ask, what did they offer to get their fighters under any sort of exclusivity? The networks in China that they are airing on seem pretty big; Hunan TV, Hebei TV, Hubei TV, JiangXi TV, Anhui TV,Chongqing TV, Guangdong TV, Hainan TV and Qinghai TV. Then again, I have no clue. You aren't wrong. Those are all major networks.

Well, I mean, even if they would only have a deal with Hunan TV, a 3 hour slot in primetime on the second most watched channel in China (I believe that still is the case) is huge. Potentially Fuji TV huge. Now I guess we have to wait and see how big the commitment of the networks will be (how many yuans they will pour into this) and how will K-1 do ratings wise.

I'm not sure WHY they didn't release this number from the last Chinese event that they did, but the event their aired on Hunan TV with Buakaw vs. Zhou did something like 80 million viewers.
I've asked some people who know way more than I do about this kind of stuff what would be the expectations for something like this on those networks on primetime and they said "at least 300 million."
I'm not even sure how to process that.
If Hunan TV starts funding them (I'm not sure if that is a part of the deal yet or what) I wouldn't be shocked to see K-1 get really big again in a big hurry. It would be a weird, dramatic irony.
