So Ibrahim's out and Sorsor's in. Can't even say if it's good or not though. Looks like they got quite a few sponsors lined up for this and that's certainly good.

Regardless of the card (and the horribly late announcement of it) I really wonder how the show will look and feel.

Me too.
The only other thing I can add is that Hunan TV is giving them a good amount of support for now. Wonder what ratings they are aiming at.

From what I understand they are aiming for 300m viewers. They had somewhere in the realm of 60m-80m for the last show, which I think had a worse time slot and less support. I guess we'll have to see?

Dave do you know if Ross was supposed to fight Wang Zhi Wei or it was a completely different fight altogether that got scrapped? Either way, too bad he couldn't fight.

It was supposed to be Zhi Wei, yeah. His manager got into it with Kent about letting him fight and I know K-1 tried to work with Lion Fight to make it happen but they wouldn't budge at all. I guess Kent feels that it might dilute the Lion Fight brand in China? I didn't even know that Lion Fight had a TV deal in China. I'm assuming they don't, actually.

That just sounds like the same level of bullshit as SK booking Sparks and that other American dude because of US TV or Quarteron not being family friendly. Too bad Ross lost the chance to fight here.

Unfortunately Varga is out and as much as it takes away from the card in terms of talent, it's not that he would do anything to spike the Chinese ratings and he's still a Glory fighter. Maybe they will now throw some Chinese fighter last minute against Kim.

He wouldn't have done anything for the ratings in China, but it's still a bummer as he's the biggest name on the card alongside Tate.

Funny thing is that it was his own damned fault.
He went to China without a fucking Visa. Who does that?

Don't know how I feel about that. As I said, a lose talent-wise but fortunately not something that would negatively affect the ratings plus if Varga screwed himself out of the fight it his lose.
Either way, K-1 is taking an interesting approach here. Even the Chinese fighters other than Zhou (and to a lesser extent Li Yan Kun) aren't big names. The card on paper doesn't tell whether they now have more money to spend or not and it's up in the air whether they can pull off the ratings they are aiming for.

That's really dumb, but it is the kind of thing promoters should be aware of needing to babysit their guys through. Rob Emerson didn't make the S-Cup because he tried to renew his passport just a couple of days before he needed to travel and they found he still owes child support and denied the application. It should really be part of the bout agreement process.

Honestly, K-1 didn't do anything wrong here.
To get into China or even get a Visa to work there you need an invitation letter. They got everyone their invitation letters as soon as their bout agreements were signed and made it clear that they needed to apply for a Visa with said letter. The seven fighters who needed Visas to get in all got them no problem, but Varga just never got one, thinking that the letter would be enough.

Then yeah, they did absolutely everything right. It's shocking how often nebulous "visa issues" are invoked as some kind of unavoidable, rigid bureaucratic nightmare when the reality is the fighter did something stupid.
